While packing boxes and carrying them up and down the stairs, I kept thinking about expansion, control, and presence and about what happens when we step into something larger than what we’ve known (regardless of whether you are an artist or a lawyer or are retired).

As I’ve discovered again and again, you can’t learn something until you’re truly ready to learn it—no matter how much effort you pour into trying.

Each new season carries its own kind of energy; sometimes quiet, sometimes restless, sometimes full of possibility. Fall has me feeling a pull toward working with color in a way that is more about pure sensation.
